The Roaring Fork Valley Horse Council is a non profit organization providing a unified voice for equine related interests by working to preserve access to trails, by educating the public in equestrian issues and by supporting the overall well being of horses and horsemanship.
Our Goals are to:
1) Become a central information center as a community resource for equestrian activities and events through out the
valley and beyond with emails, newsletters and website information.
2) Promote events that bring horse lovers from all disciplines together to unify, inform and socialize such as:
- Square dances and pot lucks
- Exciting and interesting trail rides
- Overnight mountain hut trips
- Horse events for various disciplines
3) Provide a forum for organizations to express their ideas, interests and talents that are useful and informative to our membership such as:
- Veterinarian presentations on horse health and care
- Open Space and Wilderness issues
- Forest Service and BLM requirements for trail users
- Interacting with government agencies to ensure the trail systems include the interests and well being of horses and their owners.
- Monitoring the trail systems in cooperation with the US Forest Service, Forest Conservancy and BLM by filing reports on trail conditions such as downed timber, hazards or possible trespass.
- Educating the public and other trail users on proper trail etiquette concerning equestrian riders and assisting various government agencies with educational signage on multi user trails to encourage cooperation and safe procedures for all users.
4) Inform our members of volunteer opportunities such as:
- Clearing trails to provide access for riders
- Becoming involved in youth and handicap programs
- Assisting other like minded organizations such as the Three Rivers Back Country Horsemen and Roaring Fork Outdoor Volunteers.
We are unique as we are the only equestrian organization in the Roaring Fork Valley that represents you and your horse.
We encourage all horse enthusiasts to take advantage of the many activities and
services provided by our organization. We invite horse owners, riders, ranch and farm owners, equestrian businesses and any one that is interested in equine issues to express their ideas and interests by coming to our next meeting and joining
the growing membership of the Roaring Fork Valley Horse Council.
